Submissions

We are happy to receive unsolicited submissions that are within our content areas and conform with our philosophy. We accept essays and stories and illustrations but mostly our magazine is full of how-to projects accompanied by high quality photography or illustrations in the areas of cooking, art and craft, outdoor activities, science and play — suitable for children aged 7-12 (the pre-teen / primary school years).

You should send a query first via email with samples of your photography and writing. Please consult our editorial calendar for 2013 (below) to see if your submission will fit in with our upcoming themed issues.

Your query should include:

  • Which issue are you submitting for, and a description of your idea/project
  • A brief bio, previous publications and website
  • Photography and writing samples

Request a submission pack, questions, queries and submissions to Kathreen: action-pack[at]whipup.net.

Send your final submission by the due date, using our submission guidelines (which can be requested via email Kathreen: action-pack[at]whipup.net). Make sure you have included all the required information and images.
