Next year
Next year I am taking my family of four on a year long adventure. We will be homeschooling and working, adventure seeking and project making on the road – yes we are taking our car and camper trailer (that is our set up above) and driving around Australia for a year. We are very excited and busy planning for a year away from our home and school and work.
We have found someone to rent our house for a year (fingers crossed it doesn’t fall through), a very nice young family moving from Canada – you want a sneaky peak at our house - our listing is here. I really recommend this website if you are planning on travelling and are looking for a house swap or house sit or need to rent your house out on a short term basis.
We are all excited about the prospect of homeschooling [unschooling] our kids for a year and have a few online resources we will be making use of … have you heard of Khan Academy for math and science – if not you need to check it out – it is free and wonderful and inspiring. You really should also take a look at Salman Khan’s TED talk about education. Please leave a comment with any good resources you can recommend. I will be updating each week with new ideas as I find them.
We will have a mobile satellite dish with us and so will be able to continue with our work – my husband less so as his business is only minimally internet based, but whipup.net and Action Pack Magazine will continue with the help of contributions from around the world – very excited about this.
This will be a research and project based trip– where we will continue to build upon our Action Pack series, write additional articles and working toward an even bigger project. We are planning on living a certain way – with an eco friendly light touch on the earth, living frugally and of course continuing our hand made and diy lifestyle while on the road – it will be a challenge and adventure – we hope we are up for it — and we hope you will continue to follow us on our adventure next year — we will be blogging it for sure!
